Altamas Relief and Development Foundation (ARDF)
Altamas is organizing this fundraiser to benefit Sudan.
Islamic Relief Canada and Altamas have joined forces to launch a crucial fundraising campaign aimed at supporting vulnerable and displaced communities in Sudan, particularly in the West Kordofan region. The ongoing conflict and recent flooding have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation, leading to an alarming increase in the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who are in desperate need of assistance.
Access to food remains the most pressing need for these communities, with many families reportedly subsisting on just one meal a day or, in some cases, going an entire day without food. The scarcity of food is compounded by limited access to healthcare, water, and sanitation services, all of which are critical for survival. Diseases such as malaria and cholera have become widespread due to the unsanitary living conditions faced by IDPs, many of whom are currently residing in schools and makeshift shelters.
The fundraising initiative seeks to address these urgent needs by providing essential aid that includes food supplies, medical services, and temporary housing solutions. With the objective of alleviating the suffering of these communities, the campaign will also focus on providing tents and other temporary housing options to free up schools, allowing children to return to their education.
By uniting efforts, Islamic Relief Canada and Altamas are committed to making a significant impact on the lives of those affected by this humanitarian crisis. The funds raised will play a vital role in not only providing immediate relief but also in paving the way for long-term recovery and stability in the region. Together, we can help restore hope and dignity to the displaced families in West Kordofan

About Islamic Relief Canada
People in Sudan face escalating violence and danger
With the civil war continuing to rage across Sudan, civilians continue to suffer the brunt of the violence. Over 9 million people have been displaced, and 24+ million are in need of humanitarian assistance.
More than 13,000 civilians have now been killed and thousands more injured as heavy fighting continues throughout residential areas. Hospitals are surrounded and quickly depleting of supplies, preventing the wounded from accessing desperately needed medical care — 70% of healthcare facilities in Sudan have shut down since
the fighting began in April 2023.
Hunger threatens the countless displaced. Over 18 million Sudanese face acute hunger, including 3.6 million children who are acutely malnourished. The food crisis is quickly becoming one of the worst globally.
