Starting with a simple need to help
Altamas, formally established as The Altamas Relief and Development Foundation (ARDF), began when a small group of Calgary neighbours started gathering to support families facing sudden hardships. What started around kitchen tables and park benches quickly grew into early community activities—including organizing a youth bowling program in Calgary, regular shared meals, essential supply distributions, and warm check-ins for isolated seniors across the city.
As local social needs deepened, our grassroots effort evolved into a registered non-profit organization. Today, Altamas serves thousands of Calgarians each year through structured community food hubs, youth mentorship, digital literacy classes, and dedicated resource navigation — remaining just as personal, accessible, and grounded as day one.
